Week 6 – 12 Week Healthy Ageing Program

Healthy food was on the menu at last week’s session of the Healthy Ageing Program.  We welcomed Joelie Mandzufas from Nutrition Australia who came along and gave us an interactive session on optimal healthy through food variety and physical activity.

 

The Healthy Eating Pyramid is a simple visual guide to the types and proportion of foods that we should eat every day for good healthy food Pyramid

 

Also covered “standard serves” that we should consume of the five core food groups each day, for a nutritious and balanced diet, which differs for each age and gender.

Other areas covered in the session were reading labels and “shop to pot” which all generated active discussion and quizzes within the group.
